If there's one time of year that has women sizing up their lingerie drawers, it's February.
Valentine's Day gives many of us that extra incentive to up the sexy-style -- and heat -- meter in the undergarment department. But shopping for all things flimsy, frilly and revealing can also send us racing straight to the Hershey Kiss jar in a stress-induced panic.
Instead of filling up on chocolate (when we really want the real thing), we asked style expert Lindsay Albanese for some helpful hints to help inspire confidence and add some sweet spice to the holiday.
"When wearing lingerie, it's all about flaunting your best assets and camouflaging the areas you don't love as much," Albanese tells StyleList. "Focus on the part of your body that you like or feel is your best asset, and wear things that flaunt that area of the body."
If your bust is small: "Tiered ruffles around the bust will add volume," Albanese says. "Anything with underwire will give you a lift, and halter styles also pull the bust up and in, to create more cleavage."
If your bust is big: "Try bandeau styles," she says, "or anything with a plunging neckline or ruffle trim."
If you'd like to disguise a big booty: "Go with skimpy boy shorts," Albanese says.
If you're trying to narrow those hips and thighs: "Anything that is sheer that hits mid-thigh will work," she says. "Silk robes are also great because you can cinch them at the waist."
If you're fighting the dreaded muffin top: "Corsets take 2 to 3 inches off your waist," Albanese advises. "They are your best bet. Also babydoll camisoles, or tunic-style tanks will help slim the waistline."[stylelist.com]
